In the words of Wilbur Smith "War is the game played by old men with the lives of the young". The pawn in this game is the combat soldier, represented by the miniature toy soldier; an insignificant being on the battlefield. Combat is the most intense moment of war, where life and death balances on a knife's edge. The results are terrifying and reveal the worst part of our human nature. Conversely, there are moments when it exudes the best of our human spirit. Most of the miniatures you see here are diligently researched from historical sources and handcrafted between scales of 1/35 to 1/16 (approx 50mm to 120mm). The intricate rendition of human expression and fine details not only demonstrates the level of craftsmanship but also serves as a reminder of the fragile nature of human life. I represent no political bias though my miniature creations. My aim is to portray humanity through the chronicles of military history and thus it is my pleasure that I present to you my weblog Perspectives in Miniature.

This instructional DVD published by Model Art magazine was primarily developed for the beginner armour and diorama modeller in mind. With all the hype about it impending release generated from the discussion forums and the unfortunate circumstance surrounding this particular release, it looks like I'll have to step up one notch to get the pair completed before the week closes. Just a quick update of last weekend's progress. I'm almost done with the Italian camo trousers and begun work on the Oak Leaf camo helmet cover. In tandem, work has also begun on Italian camo overalls for the second figure.

just thought I'll take a breather to post some more updates to the Normandy vignette from Alpine Miniatures. Reckon I'll proceed to work on the Italian camo trousers as soon as I make the final refinements to Oak Leaf pattern on the back of the smock latter today. Also I'll try to post the colour recipes and swatches when time permits.

As some of you might have speculated, the hedgerow was definitely for another figure project. And without due, here's a sneak preview of the vignette involving Alpine Miniature's next release; two Panzergrenadiers of the 12th SS Panzer Division, Regiment 25 clothed in the ubiquitous Oak-Leaf camo smocks and Italian camo overalls. It's a welcome change from Taesung's current line of figures that are designed in "neutral" standing poses for the 1/35 AFV modeller. I have my suspicions that might be due to an overwhelming plea for more "dynamic" figures from him. I sincerely hope that more modellers will peg their money to their requests so that we might be able to see more genres of such figures from his hands in 2008.
