Deadly Ambush, Normandy,1944

Just before the year 2006 comes to a close, here's a preview of another vignette in its preliminary stages of planning that I'm concurrently working on for another collector. The figures are from Alpine Miniatures set 35022, swapped with Hornet heads. To add more dynamism to an otherwise linear composition, I elevated the position of the gunner and changed the angle of the left foot of the commander figure so as to position him on the edge of a ravine/ditch. Note the subtle raising of the gunner at an opposing angle from the commander to suggest him engaging a target from his concealed position at a lower ground.

Happy New Year!

On To The Smock!

_
Okie folks,
finally embarked on my second Palm Trees n' Clumps pattern smock for this year. German Camo Pale Brown was used as the base coat. (Yes, straight from the tube). The positions of the dark brown shapes are indicated by the black primer that's left to reveal through so as to prevent the unecessary build-up of paint. Looks like another long haul endeavor again. Anyway, here's a Happy New Year to all!

Painting Begins

Here's a picture of the head 30 minutes into the rendering process with lots of refinements to be made. He sure looks pi$$ed though!

The carrying strap for the MG-34 was made from paper stiffen with super glue. The swivels were made from epoxy putty.

Groundwork Done

Managed to get the groundwork up whilst my wife was out on a hen's night.

WELCOME!!!

Hello Everybody,
welcome to my first post! Here's wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. I'm currently in the process of adding on the final touches to this 1/35 scale commission for a collector friend of mine. Hoping to splash some colour on him early next week.

Cheers,

Calvin
