Raucherpause, 1941

A short update on the conversion based on the Tamiya German Soldiers at Rest kit. I re-sculpted the sleeves and collar with Miliput and also rotated the right leg slightly outwards to allow the figure's weight to lean more towards barrel. As it stands,  I am pretty close to getting most of the sculpting and detailing done. Hopefully I can splash some colour on it before the weekend arrives.

Cheers,

Calvin

Alpine Miniatures - CSA, 5th Texas Infantry Regiment, 1863

I can finally call this done. It has been a fun experience painting this up - especially the challenge of painting the ornamental rug wrapped around the soldier's torso. Time to move on to the other projects on the back burner....

Cheers,

Alpine Miniatures - CSA, 5th Texas Infantry Regiment, 1863

A test shot against a scenic backdrop of the Chickamauga National Military Park.

I am only left with the bayonet and the bonus head to complete before I call this done.

Cheers,

Alpine Miniatures - CSA, 5th Texas Infantry Regiment, 1863

Nothing beats listening to a Bill Horan podcast interview whilst painting an ACW subject. Hoping for some subliminal influence I suppose... :)

The painting on some parts of the back remains to be refined.

Cheers,

Calvin

M Workshop - New premise at Waterloo Center

After 20 years in the business, local model shop M Workshop has moved from Sunshine Plaza to Waterloo Centre.  For those who know him, this has been a dream come true for its founder and proprietor,  Bernard Cher whose perseverance has helped him sustain this modest enterprise. I was privileged to be invited last Friday for the opening of the new premise. Though tucked away on the second story of a sleepy housing compound, it now boasts a much larger shop area. For once I could navigate through the aisles of plastic models without feeling cramp or asking to be excused. With more space, I am sure that Bernard will be able to accommodate more goods to enrich the shopping experience of all modellers. I personally love the energy and vibe this new location has to offer as it definitely makes for a much cooler place to hang out or catch up with friends. Here's wishing Bernard my heartfelt congratulations and  all the best in his new chapter of MWorkshop.

For memories, here is the humble old shop at its previous location at Sunshine Plaza.
