17th SS Panzergrenadier Division Götz von Berlichingen, Normandy 1944

This a work in progress of a painting commission in am doing in tandem with the1/16 scale US tank crew.  Alpine Miniatures (35167). I transplanted the face from a Hornet head by removing the original face along the boundary of the chin strap. I find that this process is much easier than boring out a hole in the helmet and resculpting the neck to fit into the torso. It is undercoated with Mr Color Flat Clear and painted with AK Interactive Gen 3 Acrylics.

Cheers,

Calvin

Hello Calvin, can you show us next time how you went across with your face transplant?. Did you use a clear primer on the figure?.

thanks

Yes, I was wondering the same thing as far as the primer is concerned. Is it clear or white?
Thanks!

There is no primer involved. It is just straight Mr Colour Flat Clear from the rattle can directly onto the resin. I sprayed it on a wet day so as to achieve the frosted effect and hence it appears white in the photos. I transplanted the face by cutting the face along the boundary of the helmet strap and replaced it with the hornet head. This is much more convenient than boring out the helmet with a burr and refitting the neck into the figure.
